Sweet Cute Magazine publishes contemporary sweet romance — that is, romance without explicit content or innuendo, and without violence and profanity. A PG rating is preferred. Low-stakes, cozy stories à la Hallmark will be the best fit. Characters should be adults or teens. Light fantasy elements are welcome, but please set the story in the real world. All stories must conclude with a happy ending.

Submissions will be open from August 1 to August 31, 2026, and stories from the first submission period will be published Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during October 2026.
Formatting and Submission Requirements
Please aim for a word count between 1,000 and 3,000 words, and edit your piece before submitting. Accepted pieces will receive a light edit/proofread (with changes to be approved by the author prior to publication), but stories requiring in-depth developmental editing will receive a pass. Previously unpublished, original pieces only. Sweet Cute does not consider a story to be previously published if it has only appeared on social media or a private blog. AI-generated work is not welcome.
Submitted pieces should be formatted as follows:
Times New Roman 12pt. font
Double spaced
Section breaks should be marked by * * *
Please include only the title, your name, and the word count in your header.
Send your document as an attachment with your last name and the story title in the file name. (e.g., Fitzgerald-A Love Story.docx). In the body of your email, include an author bio of 100 words or less.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please send a reply to your original submission email if you need to withdraw your story. Please only send one story per author per submission period.

Compensation & Promotion
No money is made from this magazine at this time; therefore, no pay is available to contributors. As Sweet Cute is not a paying publication, authors retain all rights to their own work, and they are free to republish their pieces any time after they appear in Sweet Cute. Sweet Cute will promote published pieces on Substack and social media.
What To Expect
After decisions have been made, all submissions that have followed the guidelines will receive a response. If you have not followed the guidelines, your submission will be disqualified and deleted unread. Accepted authors will be asked to sign a simple contract granting Sweet Cute the right to publish their pieces.
All authors will be notified about the status of their August submissions by September 15, 2026. Feel free to inquire if you have not received a reply by this date.
